Enjoy the great outdoors and make it a family thing!

The outdoors is our passion and introducing kids to the outdoors is our mission...

Donnie is the founder of RisingSunOutdoors.com, and when it comes to archery and the outdoors, the word passionate comes to mind. Donnie has over 25 years of outdoor experience; bowhunting and archery has become his favorite sport for the past 14 years.
Born and raised in Texas, he has always enjoyed being in the South Texas brush
or the Hill Country cedars and when the opportunity arises he is in the woods.

Donnie competes in several 3D competitions every year to keep honed during the off season. He is a natural when it comes to shooting traditional equipment and a compound bow with fingers. He has numerous first place finishes and countless top three finishes of his division. Texas, Central and South, have been the primary hunting location for Donnie where numerous animals have fallen to his skills.

Donnie’s passion for archery and has been involved with the community by volunteering his time to area youth groups who are in search of archery instruction. Donnie, who is a Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) under the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) has a belief that any kid can shoot a bow, and has taken archery instruction to a local middle school. He has taught archery to kids that are in the “at risk” group and students that are autistic. Because of the positive response from the students, teachers and parents, Donnie facilitated in getting Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to certify several middle school coaches/P.E. teachers as BAIs under the National Archery in the Schools Program.

Another program that Donnie has been involved in is the Texas Youth Hunting Program. He is a certified Texas Youth Hunter Huntmaster and has volunteered in assisting youth on deer, hog and turkey hunts.

Tammy, Field Editor with RisingSunOutdoors.com, born and raised in Central Texas. She has been exposed to the outdoors as a child, growing up around hunting and family camping trips.

Tammy was introduced to bowhunting by her husband Donnie. After sitting in the ground blind one November afternoon and watching him arrow a nice buck she was hooked on bowhunting and her only request was to get a bow for Christmas.

After receiving he bow Tammy began attending 3D competitions and it was plain to see she had become a natural behind the string of her compound bow. She has numerous first place finishes and countless top three finishes of his division.

Texas, Central and South, have been the primary hunting location for Tammy, as she hunts often with her family. Although she is relatively new to bowhunting she has taken several animals with a bow and arrow.

Tammy's passion for archery has also been passed on within the community by volunteering her time to area youth groups who are in search of archery instruction. Tammy, is a Basic Archery Instructor Trainer (BAIT) under the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).
Tammy has been involved in is the Texas Youth Hunting Program and is a certified Texas Youth Hunter Huntmaster and has volunteered in assisting youth on deer, hog and turkey hunts.

Colby our Jr. Field Editor is more passionate about fishing, but he does like to spend time hunting. When he is not busy with school activities he’ll be on the mat learning martial arts. Colby has been shooting archery equipment since he was 3.
He also competes in 3-D archery and also has numerous first place finishes and countless top three finishes for his division.
Colby took his first deer with a bow at 8 years old
(Hunting Story) and his first turkey at 9.
As all kids once they are outdoors they don’t want to leave when it is time to go home and ready for the following Monday.
Colby also enjoys teaching archery to youth groups and is a big help when called to aid in teaching archery.

Alec is one of our future hunters/ outdoors people.

At the ripe young age of 2 Alec was in the blind with mom and dad.
He also enjoys slinging an arrow at 3-D targets and being outdoors.

We must  take the time to to teach our kids, and other kids about the outdoors, preserve our land, be involved with wildlife conservation, wildlife management, etc. to ensure they too have a place outside to enjoy and animals to hunt.
